Longhoughton Rangers - FA Charter Standard Club of the Year 2009
Longhoughton Rangers Youth Football Club has beaten clubs throughout the country to be crowned the FA National Charter Standard Development Club of the Year for 2009.
The prestigious award means the club has reached the very top of the FA's Development Programme and confirms Rangers' position as a nationally recognised centre of football development.
Longhoughton Chairman (and NABC U14 manager), Paul Kiddell said
“Longhoughton has come a long way in its short history and for the first time next season will field teams at all age groups within the NABC. Participation in the outstanding NABC league is fundamental to our future development. All at Longhoughton are extremely grateful to the hard-working NABC Committee for producing a fantastically positive environment which allows Clubs like ours to thrive.
We would also like to thank all of our friends at Clubs throughout the NABC League who contribute to an exciting and challenging season. For me there really is nothing better than travelling the region, watching some great football and meeting like-minded volunteers who contribute so much to their local communities.
In conjunction with the Longhoughton Village Development Trust, we are about to open our brand new £1.5 million football and community facility which was largely funded by the Football Foundation and we look forward to welcoming many Clubs in the coming years.
I would certainly recommend that Clubs work closely with the NFA development team and look to tap into the many excellent funding opportunities offered by the Football Foundation. Happy days indeed!”
Mark Woodhall, Football Development Officer at Northumberland FA, said: "We are delighted that Longhoughton have been given this award, which is in recognition of not only their club based activities but their contribution to the local community."
Keith Morris, NABC League Chairman said on behalf of the Pin Point NABC league, committe and members "We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Longhoughton in achieving the national award. As a relatively new club run by dedicated local volunteers catering for young peoples enjoyment within this league. I am sure the committee will be echoing everyones sentiments in saying 'Well done' and the best of luck in your new venture (Club house) - Keep up the good work!"
