McDonald's™ was the Founding Partner of 'Boots for Africa' - a FIFA™ backed appeal aiming to collect and deliver millions of cleaned up pairs of used football boots, Astro and Trainers to the children of Africa.

The Boots for Africa appeal was initially set up in 2006 by Sheffield FC, officially the oldest football club in the world. Previously a pilot project, the appeal has already seen over 2000 pairs of boots collected and delivered to South Africa and is now aiming to collect 2 million pairs of boots in time for the 2010 FIFA™ World Cup in South Africa.

Collections in the North East
